Dark Ray is to Hand as Cloudy Attack is to Natural Attack. That is, Dark Ray does more damage than Hand, but with its range restricted to Linear. At level 6, Dark Ray has a higher critical hit rate. At level 5 or under , the use of Hatter Lily will help to reach 1/2 Critical hit.As an Intelligence-based Xelor, the decision whether to use Hand or Dark Ray as an attack spell is due very much to personal preference.

In update 1.27.0, Dark ray gained more damage and range steal, turning the tides a bit for those considering to level Hand.
