Fisherman/Gathering

Gathering information for fisherman.

[edit] General
Fisherman resource spawns are schools of fish found in lakes, sea and rivers. Higher profession level unlocks new types of fish, while better fishing rods allow reaching spawns far from land.
[edit] Details
[edit] Experience
The experience for each resource is 10 + (min level/2). You only gain experience when you actually catch a fish; failed fishing attempts result in no experience.
Note: The fishes listed here are not the ones displayed in the profession panel. Those are all the fishes you can obtain from each type of school, ordered from most frequent to least frequent.

[edit] Amounts
Fishing always yields one fish, except in the case of failure. Once a fisherman reaches lv. 20 in the profession, they may encounter resource protectors that drop bags of fish. The type of fish caught varies.
See the talk page for the discussion on which fish drops in a given area, and participate in the Fishing Research study.

[edit] Contest Snappers
Contest Snappers are only found at the pool at Sufokia [15,25]. They can only be fished using Fishing Rod for Snappers. The Snappers themselves are completely useless, but the fishing rod has 100% success rate and the supply is nearly endless, so this is a very good place for early fishermen who don't mind losing out on a few gudgeons.
(note: The contest snappers are not COMPLETELY useless, although they are only level 1 fish, they can still be fed to your mount for energy.)
[edit] Notes
It is possible to inadvertently enter a fight while fishing. When you fish, your character moves to a position close to the fish. If there is a monster mob at that location, it will start a battle as if you had intentionally attacked the mob. Also if you're not the level for a fish for example you can only get small fish, you have a chance to get fish one size up like for this example regular fish.
