These squirrels have a large movement range, but their only attack takes away AP, so they can't hurt you. However, they can prolong the battle so long you leave it out of frustration or necessity. Know what you're getting into when you fight these. A good but time-consuming strategy for the quest is to stick close to Louse at first, baiting all the squirrels into a clump, then move away for a turn. They tend to attack whomever's closest, so after they drain Louse you can move in and attack or (even better) remain attacking from a distance. Of course, if you do have to go close to attack, they'll drain you of your AP, so you simply move away again and repeat. After you kill the first they become more likely to target you, but occasionally Louse has enough AP to help you.

There are several strategies you can use.

Use the girl like decoy in the battle. (Even if she has all her AP she will probably not attack although there have been reports of her using the spells Block and Bramble on rare occasions.) Let the all Ecureuil attack her

(SADIDA ONLY!): The squirrels are smart so if you cast paralyzing poison on them they will not use any skills while its active, so draw them out one by one and then you have three turns to kill them with tear/bramble as you wish. Since the experience stays the same, you also have the choice to cast it on the squirrels near the girl, allowing her to attack with bramble. If done correctly you will only be hit by the squirrels' AP drain once.

(Requires some kama usage): The squirrels dont have a lot of hp, so try and buy some twiggy(or any other kind of) daggers. This way you can attack if you only have 3AP.

Use as many ranged spells as possible, its harder for the squirrels to attack you from a distance. Stay far away and attack with any ranged spells that you have.

The girl uses Block as a first attack and then bramble against the last Mean Squirrel if she can

Ecaflips can stop them from casting by using Roulette, they will eihter attack and slowly die, or not attack leaving you with enough AP for a strong one.
