Bluff is a very powerful spell when starting out, as it already does 11.5 average damage without adding any characteristic points. For this reason, it is often tempting for beginners to build their first Ecaflip around this spell.
However, Bluff does not draw its power from both of its elements, but only one at a time. Builds based on one of the two elements will, therefore, only deal reasonable damage 50% of the time, while hybrid (Agility-Chance) builds will deal more consistent, but inferior damage.
Since Bluff deals ridiculously high damage on a critical hit, a possible solution is to rely on critical hits, which can be achieved from lv. 40 on, using Ukando Hat together with other Critical hit equipment and/or Clover. The drawback is that this equipment is vital to your character, making it next to impossible to use good Wisdom equipment. In other words, leveling up will become difficult at higher levels.
Tactics

- Since Bluff consumes 4AP, it can be paired with level 5 Perception , Wheel of Fortune or Reflex to increase its damage.
- If you have 7AP, Bluff can also be paired with a Dagger attack.
- AP buffs (including your own Smell or AP equipment) will be most helpful, as a total of 8AP will allow you to cast Bluff twice.
- At spell level 6, Bluff only costs 3AP, making it possible to cast it twice or even 3 times if you're buffed to 9AP.
History

Once one of the best Ecaflip spells at low levels, it now costs 4AP at Level 5 (instead of 3AP earlier), meaning that you can no longer cast it twice in a turn without AP boosts. Additionally, its damage range is wider now; therefore, it is even more random.
While the old Bluff had a critical hit that did nothing, its critical hits now do massive damage.
