Glowing Armor protects against fire type damage. The protection extends to your allies standing within an area of 2. This is a shield effect.

Most low-level monsters use earth or neutral attacks, and this spell won't protect against those attacks. However, many other players have fire attacks they will use (most notably Cras, Xelors, and Osamodas). This makes Glowing Armor almost indispensable in PvP combat. Boosting Glowing Armor is recommended after you've boosted Earth Armor.

This spell can be used in conjunction with an Aggressive Glyph to provide a buffer zone around your character. Cast Glowing Armor to protect yourself from the glyph, then create an Aggressive Glyph under yourself. Enemies approaching for close range combat will be damaged, and attempt to retreat at the end of their turns.

As of the 1.20 update, the spell (like all armors) has a 6 turn cool down between casts and 4 turn duration for all levels.

The 9/10/07 update modified the turns of armor spells again, which how have 8 turns of effects for a 8 turns cooldown, effectively returning to a permanent protection if recast.

As of 1.27 this spell has less active turns than cooldown, which means that players will have to deal with a shield less turn, to compensate for this shield less turn, the developers fixed the reduction.
